One West Michigan high school football team is bringing home a state championship.
South Christian was the only team from the area to bring home a title, beating Detroit Country Day 40-7 in the Division Four State Championship. Other West Michigan teams Muskegon and Constantine fell in their respective games.
The Sailors were without star quarterback Jon Wassink, but Derek Woltjer filled in running for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
South Christian, led by head coach Mark Tamminga, finishes the season 11-3.
