Two West Michigan teams went head to head in the Division 5 state football championship, and only one came out on top. Portland topped Grand Rapids West Catholic 12-9 for the championship.

The state championship is the first for Portland in football.

Tanner Allison and Auston Brandt had touchdowns for the Raiders in the victory. Andy Corey had West Catholic’s lone touchdown. The Falcons also added a safety late in the fourth quarter as Mitch Stanitzek sacked Allison in the endzone.

West Catholic finishes the season 10-4, while Portland seals the season with a 13-1 record.
