Wayland Attorney Arrested For Meth

ALLEGAN, Mich.– A Wayland attorney suspected of manufacturing meth, along with two other suspects, turned himself into the police today.

The three suspects were Attorney Patrick Burson, 35, of Wayland, Polly Gates, 28, of Otsego and Sherry Cunningham, 36, of Otsego. All three suspects turned themselves in to the Allegan County Sheriff on November 28.

Back in June, police served search warrants at the Burson’s law office and an Otsego township home. Police found meth labs and ingredients at both locations.

After the suspects turned themselves in, the suspects were arrested and arraigned.

Burson was arraigned on four counts of operating/maintaining a meth lab, a 20-year felony per count, and two counts of possession of meth, a 10-year felony per count.

Gates was found arraigned on four counts of operating/maintaining a meth lab, a 20-year felony per count, and two counts of possession of meth, a 10-year felony per count and two counts of delivering/manufacturing meth, a 20-year felony per count.

Cunningham was arraigned for possession of meth, a two-year felony.

The suspects are being held in the Allegan County Jail and have pre-exam trials scheduled for 1 p.m December 6.
