Over $10,000 in Damages to South Haven Area Businesses and Vehicles

SOUTH HAVEN Mich. Several vehicles and at least two businesses were damaged after windows were shot out during shooting incidents in the Van Buren County area.

It first started around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department said five people were spotted acting suspiciously at a Dollar General store in South Haven. One of those people was seen with an apparent hand gun.

Over the next hour and a half Van Buren County dispatch received calls of several vehicle windows that  had been shot out.

At least wo business owners also called dispatch and advised that their exterior display windows of their businesses had been completely destroyed.

Workers at a Taco Bell said several of the suspects were harassing them and that’s what prompted employees to call to police.

A laundry mat was one of the businesses that sustained damages, as well as a  Burger King restaurant.

Police say they were able to track down all of the suspects and two were lodged in the Van Buren County jail.

Arrest warrants for the remaining suspects were issued.

Police say over $10,000 in damages were made.
