WHITEHALL Mich. – A lodge along the lakeshore is said to be a complete loss after a fire on Sunday.

Fire crews were called to the Michillinda Lodge at around 4:30 a.m. to fight the flames.

Our crew on scene said  five people were staying at the lodge. They weren’t staying as guests, but  were contracted to work there.  We’re told it was the contract workers who notified authorities of the fire.

Everyone made it out safely.

Firefighters say the fire started in the main lodge .

The fire is still under an investigation and the cause has yet to be determined.

Hi Glenn, I remember you. I was a guest at the Lodge for many years. My son grew up vacationing there and we are just devastated to see that it is gone. We were at the Lodge with extended family after my Mother's funeral in Grand Rapids this summer. The best years were when Don and Sue were the innkeepers. What an irreplaceable loss. We are grieving in upstate NY and Evanston, IL.

My sister was married at Michillinda in August. The family fell in love with the place and made reservations to return. We're all so sad to hear of the loss and feel like we lost a little piece of the family. The lodge was so spectacular and only hope that there is an effort to rebuilt. Michillinda is one of those places that you'll always remember, never wanted to leave, and would love to call home.

Our hearts go out to the owners and staff at Michillinda, we cant imagine the loss felt.
