The elephant has left the room.

On Tuesday, the Detroit Lions put receiver Titus Young on the injured reserve list, ending Young’s season.

Young has been a distraction for the team and has been sent home twice over the last three weeks, but he was listed on the injured reserve with a sore knee.

On November 19th’s game against the Packers, Young intentionally lined up in the wrong spot on the field and got into an argument with Lions receivers coach Shawn Jefferson. Lions head coach Jim Schwartz sent Young home from practice the following day.

During  May workout, Young punched teammate Louis Delmas and was sent home.

“I certainly believe in second chances. There’s no greater story in the NFL, or in professional sports, than redemption,” Schwartz said.

“I think we all hold out hope that guys can do that, but you need to make the most of the opportunities you have.  That didn’t happen.”
