PAW PAW, Mich – Police in Van Buren County have charged a prison inmate with a murder that happened 10 years ago.

Ray Edward Barry, 33, is the inmate now charged in connection to the murder of Chris Green.

Green was found dead in a ditch in Geneva Township on December 9, 2002. An autopsy at the time indicated he died from being stabbed and a blunt force injury.

“The two were living in the same neighborhood,” Lt. Chuck Christansen Michigan State Police said.

Police never stopped working on the case after all these years.

Barry was currently serving a 22 year sentence at a state prison for a robbery charge. He was turned over to Van Buren authorities Monday to face the new murder charge.

Barry will be back in court on December 10, 2012.
