GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Mary Free Bed Hospital is holding its annual holiday party for the 57th year.

The party is for all patients who have spent time in the hospital during the last year. It’s a tradition started by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Alfred B. Swanson who wanted to make the season brighter for pediatric patients.

The annual Swanson Pediatric Christmas Party is on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. At least 250 kids are participating in holiday activities and will get to meet Santa Claus. All patients between four and seven years old along with their families have been invited.
