CASS COUNTY, Mich. — A pedestrian was seriously injured when she was struck by a vehicle in Cass County on Christmas Eve.

At 6:30 p.m. Monday, Franklin Strawser, 68, of Constantine was driving eastbound on U.S. 12 near Union Road in Cass County when his vehicle hit Lori Wilkes, 42, of Jones, who was in the roadway. Wilkes was transported by Porter Township ambulance, with assistance from Oslo Ambulance, to Memorial Hospital In South Bend, Ind., where she was listed in serious condition Tuesday.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said that alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
