NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. — A missing 81-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease was located Thursday evening.

The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Department said that on Thursday evening, Mervin Newville of Bitely flagged down a passing snowmobile for help in northern Newaygo County. The snowmobile rider called 9-1-1 and deputies and rescue personnel responded to the scene.

Newville was transported by ambulance to Reed City Hospital for treatment.

Newville had not been seen since Monday.

Officials had said that Newville might have driven to the Big Rapids area on Monday. He was believed to have been driving a 1992 burgundy Buick station wagon. The car has wood grain side panels.
