Driver Gets Away After High-Speed Chase

HARTFORD TWP, Mich — Van Buren County deputies are searching for a man who they say led them on a high-speed chase.

It all happened around 12:55 Sunday in Hartford Township. Deputies were trying to pull over a car for a traffic violation on 61st Avenue, east of 62nd Street. The car sped off, driving through backyards of several homes on 61st Avenue.

The driver almost hit someone who was stacking wood outside, then went back eastbound on 61st Avenue. Deputies kept following him, but after the car kept driving at a high rate of speed, running several stop signs, they gave up the pursuit.

The suspect is described as a bald white male, in his late 20s to early 30s.

If you know anything, call the Van Buren County Sheriff’s department at (269) 657-2006.
