KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Kalamazoo has removed the public health advisory for contact within the area of Axtell Creek, but has issued another advisory.

On Jan. 7, the City of Kalamazoo Department of Public Services personnel were notified at 7:30 a.m. of a sewage overflow from a manhole on Crystal Lane in Oshtemo Township.

Untreated raw sewage has been released to a storm water system.

The Department of Public Services removed the blockage Monday morning.

An estimated 1,200 to 1,500 gallons of material has discharged from Crystal Lane.

The previous advisory for Axtell Creek was lifted Monday after the health department tested a sample of the sewage, which indicated no health threats.

If anyone has questions call the Department of Public Services at 269-998-0275
