Guide To Touring Detroit, Siblings Create Brochure

DETROIT, Mich. -It’s been more than a generation since a guide to the city of Detroit has been released. Now, a group of siblings is working to bring more visitors back to the Motor City.

Andy, Emily and Rob Linn own the studio and store called City Bird in Detroit’s Midtown area. They sell a number of items, among them, “Belle Isle to 8 Mile: An Insider’s Guide to Detroit.” It’s a 448 page book with all the sights and facts about Detroit.

“As we got into it, we realized we wanted to explore the whole city really, try to be as complete as possible, so the book features about a thousand sites.  In researching it, we researched a couple thousand places that none of us had been to before, so it was really exciting to learn a lot of new things about the city,” says Emily Linn.

The family said the experience of putting the guide together is one they’ll never forget.

As usual, the arrogant fools who create many of the web site never include a phone or street address. Fools because they invite a potential customer to "pick up a copy at the City Bird office on West Canfield" and arrogant because they assume everyone who may be interested can go "online" to make a purchase. Not everyone is connected.

They were cited by the Michigan newspapers as empowered individuals who are ambassadors of Detroit. The brochure and mini book was made available as a PDF for download. They paint Detroit in a very fond light.
