GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Unusually mild weather continues to develop around West Michigan this week, with temperatures that will push record territory Friday and Saturday.

Forecast highs in the low to mid 50s will threaten record highs of 55° both Friday (set in 1980) and Saturday (set in 2005).

Meanwhile, other locations around the globe are seeing some even more bizarre weather this week.

This article describes how extreme heat in Australia is setting records and forcing meteorologists to redefine the way they display temperatures on their maps.

Closer to home, Chicago has seen even less snow this season than here in West Michigan.  The Windy City just marked 320 days without an inch of snowfall, breaking a record that stood for 72 years.

But the snow is falling in a big way in a place you might not expect.  Jersualem, Israel just picked up nearly a foot of snow, its largest snowfall in twenty years.

Things will start to feel more like January around West Michigan next week.  Click here for the full 7 Day Forecast.
