What does his son have to do with this???? His son didn't commit the crime…That is one of the things that is wrong in this country. Right away people assume that the relatives are guilty also. Guilt by association. What a stupid remark to make…

"His formal termination will be acted upon by the village council". Am I missing something? Aren't you innocent until proven guilty? And totally agree with Pet63 ^ above. Poor kid (principal son) has nothing to do with what his father chooses to do or not to do.

The other thing wrong with people in this county is they are unable to read a statement and comprehend it. The person was clearly stating the connection between the person arrested and the principal of the local high school. I agree that it is a bad example if your son is the principal and you are committing crimes in the same town you both are serving.

I can see why you would want to remain anonymus….Misspelled, I might add….You might want to reread what that person wrote. They were equating the son with the father. You interpret it your way, I will interpret it mine. I think that most people are reading it the way that I did.

There is absolutely no reason to bring his family into this. Does not matter if his son is principal of the high school or not. I am proud my step son is in the hands of the son! Shame on you for bringing up the school in this situation!

I strongly agree that the family has nothing to do with this. I am sure they will fully investigate the situation and those that are guilty will be charged. I must say either guilty or not, Gary has done a great job ensuring that the Village of Lakeview is kept neat and debris free. Kudos to him for all he has done for the Village but shame on him for always looking down on others and giving reason for an investigation in the first place.

I agree with Cato Resident, he has done great for the village but sham on him. As for bringing his family into this is unnecessary, a family/friends actions should not define those that are related or aquainted with. Gary did wrong lets not pull the family into this.

You are absolutely right, his son has nothing to do with it. He committed the crime, let him pay for it.

In most companies if you are caught breaking certain rules, then you are immediately terminated. To protect yourself you must document all expenses, they are no "accidents" or "misunderstandings". Most companies have credit cards that feed directly into an expense reporting system so there is no opportunity for theft. Most companies require a document with a signature for expenses without any receipt, so it is documented for future audits.

Everyone is all worried about the connection with the father and son what about the connection between son-in-law and father-in-law. The son-in-law sits on the village council that the father-in-law is accused of embezzling from. What a tangled web that is!

When you live in such a small town/village it is nothing new to have multiple family members involed in the counsil, lets just wait for the whole truth and the amount before we start pointing fingers at the whole family, who by the way might/might not be involed.

Truth- I wasn't stating that the family was involved at all. I just think that would be a tough situation to be in. There was no finger pointing, but your right they may have been involved.

It sounds like it amounts to about $2,000 in gas. This is local yokel foolishness. It is a shame, it is nickel and diming the system for a few bucks per week. How much does the investigation and charges cost the community? Keep your work expenses separate from your personal expenses. Lakeview folks just can not seem to separate the school business, from personal business, from town business, from local business…. The community does not pay for your gas. No one is entitled. I wonder how this got out of control, there must be attitude or conflict of interest problems because this type of stuff should have been handled internally and shortly after it was discovered.

$2000 is alot of gas in approximately 2 months of investigation (December thru January). Maybe around 570 gallons of gas at $3.50/gallon. There must be more people involved – he just was the one that got caught. Anyone who took the free gas is just as guilty and should face the same scrutiny. What gives you the right to take advantage of people? There are elderly residents living on fixed incomes – maybe they should get free gas rather than the local mafia.

This guy lives 3 blocks from downtown. Do you know how long it would take for him to use up $2000 worth of gas? Was he topping off the tank for Jr & all his cronies? How can you steal from the people you have lived your whole life with? The people in Lakeview provided this guy and his family a good life and he steals – takes what is not his. Whoever else is involved in this should be punished as well for taking what is not theirs.
