MSU Tops OSU, Spartans Improve to 5-1 in Big Ten

Ohio State’s Deshaun Thomas had 28 points and 7 rebounds, but the Michigan State Spartans combined for a better offensive outing giving them a 59-56 win over Buckeyes Saturday night in East Lansing.

With the win, MSU improves to 16-3 overall, 5-1 in Big Ten Play. The loss drops Ohio State to 3-2 in conference action.

Adriean Payne had 14 points and five rebounds to lead the Spartans. Keith Appling chipped in 15 points and four rebounds.

Appling made two key free throws with under eight seconds in the game to help seal the victory for Michigan State.
The Spartans have won five straight conference games.
