Skateboarder Struck by Vehicle, Suffers Critical Injuries

ALLENDALE, Mich. – A man from Allendale is listed in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while he was skateboarding Saturday night.

The collision happened near the intersection of Linden and Leonard in Tallmadge Township around 6:30 p.m.

Deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said 20-year-old Adam Finney of Allendale was on a skateboard heading south on Linden when he was struck by a vehicle also heading south on Linden.

Finney suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Spectrum Hospital for treatment.

The driver involved, a 28-year-old Coopersville resident, wasn’t injured.

Deputies say alcohol wasn’t a factor in the collision.  The incident remains under investigation.

First i give my condolences to the fam and pray for your son. and driver. second, You are 100% right that shouldnt have happened. Not in front of anyones house on linden. Blame the township and how they why they let linden dr. Be a 55 mph residential shortcut to lake mi dr.and to the rest of the world. I live a 1/4 mile from location of the accident, I have to worry about dumb kids driving like idiots going to collage to become smarter individuals yet drive like they don’t have a brain to educate, and truckers with the same brain capacity following there damn GPS, EVERYDAY. do your job Ottawa county sheriffs, you would be presented the officer of the year award and a place in the guinness book of world records for writing the most tickets and filling your monthly quota in a day. Heck ill even give you permission to use my driveway to sit and radar and as a bonus ill supply the donuts and coffee .

No it didn’t so if your gunna comment use your senses and know your facts. Two families are suffering and living with an unbearable pain. The only thing your are right on is that this situation shouldn’t have happened.

Allendale city council is proposing that skateboards be taken off the streets and instead confined in the parks to avoid this fatality in the future. This is a most unwanted incident for vehicular drivers and skateboarders.
