Strong Winds & Power Outages in Our West Michigan

Strong wind gusts in various parts of West Michigan, leading to mass power outage in some locations.

As of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, about 9,500 people were without service following Saturday night’s powerful winds.  Since 9:00 p.m. Saturday, more than 74,800 customers have been affected by weather related outages.

Here is the breakdown by county as of 4:30 p.m.

  • Allegan:  478
  • Barry:  345
  • Calhoun:  640
  • Eaton:  935
  • Kalamazoo:  621
  • Kent:  597
  • Muskegon:  947
  • Ottawa:  126

A large majority of customers that have been without electric service should have their powered restored by the end of the day on Monday.  Some Customers in the hardest hit areas may not have power until early Tuesday.

Look for updated power outage estimates throughout the night as they are released.
