HOLLAND, Mich. — The dates for Tulip Time, Michigan’s largest set of parades have been announced, and organizers are looking for float entries.
Organizers want entries that are colorful, entertaining and exciting for each of the three parades this year. However, not much time is left, because the deadline to submit an application is Feb. 1.
The first parade is The Perrigo Volksparade, which is scheduled for May 8 at 2 p.m., and Governor Rick Snyder will lead. The parade will focus on Dutch traditions and feature locals dressed in Dutch costumes.
The Johnson Controls Kinderparade will happen the next day and it is the festival’s only “green” parade in the state. It will feature hybrid or electric vehicles that will tow the floats. It’s also the largest parade of children in the state, and more than 7,000 children are expected to participate.
The last Tulip Time parade is the GMB Muziekparade, which is scheduled for May 11 at 2 p.m. and at 2.4 miles, it is the longest parade route in Michigan.
