GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans will be replacing union workers for non-union workers.

Mike Burri, a volunteer at the home for veterans, told FOX 17 News that nearly 144 union workers received pink slips Tuesday.

The change comes from the company’s privatization plan that was put in place in 2011.

The workers will be laid off sometime in early March.
