GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – As temperatures continue to plummet, The Salvation Army is providing emergency utility assistance in efforts to keep household utilities from shutting off .

According to The Salvation Army more than 600 households received emergency energy assistance in 2012.

“Whenever an individual or a family faces a utility shut off it usually points to some larger, systemic issue,” said Major Bob Mueller, The Salvation Army coordinator. “The Salvation Army addresses these issues not only by timely utility assistance but also through a holistic needs assessment and individualized case planning.”
