GRPD Reveals Most Dangerous Intersections

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Police Department has revealed the most dangerous intersections for the metro Grand Rapids area in 2012.

Below is a list of the top 25 crash locations in order of how often an accident has occurred.

  1. 28th/Eastern – 81 crashes
  2. 28th/Kalamazoo – 75 crashes
  3. 28th/East Beltline – 73 crashes
  4. Leonard/Fuller – 65 crashes
  5. 28th/Breton – 60 crashes
  6. Michigan/Fuller – 57 crashes
  7. East Beltline/Knapp – 55 crashes
  8. East Beltline/Lake Eastbrook – 54 crashes
  9. 28th/Madison – 37 crashes
  10. Lake Michigan/Collindale – 28 crashes
  11. US-131/Wealth Street – 28 crashes
  12. East Beltline/Lake Drive NE –28 crashes
  13. Michigan/Ottawa – 26 crashes
  14. East Beltline/Bradford – 22 crashes
  15. 28th/Englewood – 21 crashes
  16. Division/Weston – 20 crashes
  17. Leonard/Turner – 20 crashes
  18. Fuller/Knapp – 19 crashes
  19. East Beltline/Leonard – 19 crashes
  20. Burton/Division – 19 crashes
  21. Kalamazoo/32nd st – 18 crashes
  22. 28th/Division – 18 crashes
  23. Richmond/Alpine – 18 crashes
  24. Burton/East Beltline – 17 crashes
  25. Burton/US-131 –17 crashes

    Sounds like if you work on 28th, have to cross 28th, or even start thinking about 28th, you're screwed. Count the East Beltline, and that's more than half of the top 25 intersections.

    Lake Michigan and Collindale would not be that bad if people would watch for the buses. I have been on the bus 3 times when it has been rear ended in the last year.

    I travel 28th St everyday, at intersections 1,2,3,5 at least twice everyday. I have never seen an accident, Thankfully!!!! (knock on wood). Does not surprise me though, and yes, Burton and 131 – horrible!!!
