Deadly Christmas Day Shooting Ruled Justified

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – On Christmas day Taneesha Smith admitted to shooting her boyfriend, DeMarcus Weathers.  Weathers died from his injuries. The incident has been ruled as “justified.”

FOX 17 was given a ten page press release regarding the details of this case.

Below is the last paragraph of the press release.

“GIVEN THE FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUND THE DECEMBER 25TH SHOOTING COUPLED WITH MR. WEATHERS’ HISTORY OF ABUSIVE AN ASSAULTIVE BEHAVIOR, MS. SMITH WAS NOT REQUIRED TO RETREAT AND WAS LEGALLY JUSTIFIED IN SHOOTING MR. WEATHERS. EVEN THOUGH THE DECEASED WAS NOT ARMED WITH A WEAPON AT THE TIME HE WAS SHOT, MS. SMITH WAS NONETHELESS IN REASONABLE FEAR OF DEATH OR GREAT BODILY HARM.”
