Power Glitch Triggers Tornado Siren in Kent County

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — An electrical outage caused a glitch that inadvertently triggered a severe weather siren in the Dutton area early Monday morning.

FOX 17 viewers reported that they heard the siren sound just after 4:00 A.M.  The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids confirmed with Kent County dispatch that the situation was related to a power outage near that area.

Consumers Energy’s outage website showed an outage affecting 550 customers in the area centered on 68th St. and East Paris SE.  The expected restoration time was listed as just after 9:00 A.M.
