ZEELAND, Mich. — Gentex Corporation reported basically flat sales and somewhat lower net income in its most recent financial statement Tuesday.

Gentex makes components for cars and aircraft in addition to commercial fire protection products. Its most familiar line features rearview mirrors which dim in bright headlights and camera systems for cars.

The company’s net sales were $260.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2012, flat compared to 2011. Net income of $39.6 million was down two percent from 2011.

In the financial release, CEO and board chair Fred Bauer said Gentex was working on more efficient operations with some cost reduction initiatives.
