Todd Kolster led the 2010 Grand Rapids Catholic Central football team to a state championship, now he’s hoping to turn around a struggling Jenison Wildcats program.

Kolster was named Jenison’s next head football coach on Thursday. He was hired as the school’s athletic director last year.

“When I left Catholic (Central) I didn’t really see myself going anywhere else at the time,” Kolster told FOX 17. “I certainly wasn’t expecting change as quickly as it did in football.”

Irv Sigler was fired at Jenison after the 2012 season. The Wildcats were 0-9 last season.

Kolster was 21-4 in his time at Grand Rapids Catholic.

He’s hoping to change the attitude at Jenison.

“Our program is pretty down right now,” Kolster said.

“I feel like I could lead it back and get it back on track and get the belief back in this community.”
