Southwest Airlines Announces Flights From Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Southwest Airlines confirmed Monday it would begin passenger service on August 11 from Grand Rapids to Baltimore/Washington, Denver, Orlando, and St. Louis.

Southwest bought out AirTrans in January 2012, and flyers have been waiting for word on when Southwest would begin service. The flight schedule will nearly double available service to date provided by AirTrans, said a statement from Southwest.

Promotional fares were posted on the airline’s web site if tickets are purchased before Feb. 17 and flights were taken between August 11 and September 27, with blackout dates. Available promotional fares were to Orlando, Baltimore, Denver, and St. Louis, and ranged from $109 to $129.

You will be able to get anywhere SWA fly's, just not directly. They are flying to SWA's main hubs.

I'm completely satisfied with this company. After living in Little Rock from 2003-2007 and using their airline for several trips home during military leave, I've trusted no other airline more than Southwest. Despite the "limited" cities issues, you can still get to nearly any city in the U.S. for as much, if not cheaper than the major airlines, who, may I add, charge outrageous baggage fees. The points system with Southwest is also much easier to earn free travel than any other airline, as well. When Southwest comes into Grand Rapids, U.S. Airways and United will completely lose my interest, as Southwest totally outperforms them in their business model, customer service and mostly in the way they don't class their passengers. Thank you, Southwest! I've been waiting a long time for this! :)

This is really an excellent view over the International Air Tickets. I love Southwest and their service, just disappointed that I didn't see any of the cities listed for the state of Wyoming. Cities like Jackson Hole, Lander Wyo, Riverton, etc. Thanks for this excellent review! :)
