University of Michigan head coach Brady Hoke will be the featured speaker at the West Michigan Sports Commission Luncheon on May 13, 2013. Hoke, who just wrapped up his second season with the Wolverines, led Michigan to a victory in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in his first year. WMSC President Mike Guswiler feels that Hoke is the “ideal guest speaker” for the luncheon.

The luncheon will assist the Commission in raising money and will also serve as an informative meeting for the community and stakeholders, informing them on how the organization  is progressing and what plans are in the future.

The West Michigan Sports Commission promotes West Michigan as a great place to host amateur sporting events and provides assistant to anyone who wants to plan a sporting event. The Commission’s goal is to help boost the West Michigan economy by bringing sports events to the area. Guswiler explains, “In the six years since our inception, the WMSC has helped secure or support more than 280 youth and amateur sporting events, which will contribute well over $80 million in economic impact from visitor spending in this region through the year 2015.” The WMSC is currently planning to build a softball/ baseball complex to host youth sporting events. The complex will  contain 12 fields, including one championship field that will hold between 1,000 and 1,500 spectators.

The luncheon will be held in the International Ballroom of the JW Marriott Hotel. Tickets can be purchased for the event by contacting Natalie Rose at (616) 233-3562 or nrose@westmisports.com. A table of eight is $600, and single tickets are $85 per person. Luncheon information is also available online at the WMSC website.
