The Carter County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri continued the search for missing Big Rapids man, Fred Byrne, Friday.

The sheriff’s office released a statement saying a person spotted his car at around 2:22 pm Thursday near the Mark Twain National Forest.

The caller said the car was parked off of a forest service road in Carter County.

The woman said the car, “has been there for a couple of days now.”

Deputies from the Carter County Sheriff’s Office responded and searched the area along with the National Forest Service.

There was no sign of foul play and no sign of Byrne either.

Agencies that continued the search Friday included the National Forrest Service, Missouri Highway Patrol, National Parks Service and Carter County Sheriff’s Office.

Byrne’s family said he had dropped his son off at college and stopped by his mother’s house the day he went missing.

He reportedly said he was going out to get a Valentine’s Day gift for his wife at Rivertown Mall in Grandville.

His family said they haven’t heard from him since that time.
