OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has taken a man into custody after multiple shots were fired in Holland Township on Friday evening.

Lt. Steve Kempker announced at midday Saturday that the man was being held in the Ottawa County Jail. His name is being withheld pending arraignment in court Monday.

On Friday evening, Kempker told FOX 17 that the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on 132nd Avenue near Pine Oak Drive. Kempker told FOX 17 there was a domestic situation between a son and his parents.

The son allegedly took a shotgun from the residence. Police found several shell casings along the roadway nearby.

That led to a large police response, including armored vehicles.  Several nearby roads were closed as police conducted their search for the suspect.

The suspect is said to be a male in his 40’s. He stands about 6-feet tall, and weighs approximately 250 pounds.

No one was hurt in the shooting. However, damage was done to the inside of the home.

At one point, a Michigan State Police Helicopter was requested to assist in the search for the suspect, but could not fly to the scene due to weather conditions.

Authorities believe the suspect ran into a nearby wooded area.

The search continued overnight Friday/Saturday. Kempker said that at 11:40 a.m. Saturday central dispatch received a call saying that the suspect had been spotted in the driveway at his residence. Deputies responded to the scene and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The case remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff”s Office.
