WEST MICHIGAN – The attached photo is a “snapshot” from our FOX 17 radar around 3:50 this afternoon. There are still a few lake-effect snow showers going on, mainly along and west of U.S. 131 and along the Michigan-Indiana border. As winds become more northerly, expect the snow showers to diminish through this evening. In fact, we may begin to scatter the clouds out after midnight in some inland locations.

While its been breezy most of the day, winds will also diminish this evening to eventually about five to ten miles per hour. Areas that clear out tonight will see lows drop in to the single digits, while most other locations stay in the 10 to 15 degree range. We may be lucky enough to scatter more of the clouds out on Thursday for at least partly sunny skies before our next system arrives very late Thursday night (after midnight) in to Friday. The Friday morning commute may be a bit slow with snow showers, and perhaps a light freezing drizzle falling from Grand Rapids to the south. Most locations around West Michigan should pick up about one to three inches of snow through the day on Friday. While temperatures will actually be warmer on Friday, a stiff breeze will keep the “feels like” temps in the 20s.
