WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — After a widespread snow Friday morning, most of West Michigan is dealing with a wintry mix here on Friday night.

This image from FOX 17 radar shows snow, mixed with freezing rain, across parts of the area. The heaviest snow is in Montcalm and Ionia Counties. Movement is to the northeast. In Grand Rapids, there is a mix of snow and freezing rain. Road conditions do not appear to be especially bad at this point.

Later tonight, any mixed bag will turn over to all snow. That chance of snow will continue into Saturday. No significant accumulation is expected.

  • Fed up with Kent Co.

Wow, 1" of snow in SE Kent County and the roads are horrible at mid morning. Where are the plows? Why do they wait so long to plow this part of the county. Why are the roads in Ottawa, Barry and Ionia Counties seem to always be in better condition than Kent? I know there are a lot of miles of road in Kent County. Maybe it is time for Kent County to turn the interstates back over to MDOT and concentrate on the secondary roads. Even with the lighter winters the past couple years, the quality has definitely decreased. In our part of the county, 3" of snow closes the schools.
