OWI Driver Sets Shrubs On Fire

Van Buren OVI Crash

BANGOR, Mich – A possibly intoxicated driver ran off a Van Buren County road, striking a power pole, flipping their car, which then set a resident’s shrubs on fire. This incident happened on M-43  in the 62000 block around 5:20 Friday afternoon.

The driver was not injured in the crash, and claimed that another vehicle pulled out in front of him. That was later refuted by a witness of the crash. Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to determine at the scene that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

The driver is now in the Van Buren County Jail on charges of OWI and driving with an expired license.
