4 Arrested in Sandwich Theft

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Police arrested four people after they allegedly robbed a sandwich delivery guy in Mt. Pleasant back in January.

Five men allegedly ordered eight sub sandwiches from Mena’s Joint, even though they had no money to pay for them, according to the Isabella County Police Department.

Officials said the suspects had the food delivered to a random apartment in Deerfield Village. They said the men waited outside the apartment until the delivery arrived. Once the Mena’s employee showed up, one of the suspects allegedly snatched the sandwiches, and all five suspects ran away.

The delivery guy chased after the suspect who had the food. He eventually caught up to the guy and tackled him to the ground. However, the remaining four suspects knocked the delivery guy off their friend and got away with the sandwiches, according to police.

On Monday, Feb. 25, police were able track down four of the five suspects and make an arrest.

Daniel John Abrahamson, 20, from Northville was charged with one count of larceny from a person, a 10-year felony and one count of conspiracy to commit larceny from a person, a 10 year felony. He was also charged with a $10,000 fine.  Abrahamson is a Central Michigan University student.

Another CMU student, Joseph Augustin Petrovich, 19, from Farmington Hills was also arrested on the same charges.

Dustin Edward Cochran, 17, from Indian River and Kyle Elsen Weckesser, 22, from East Lansing, were also arrested on the same charges. Cochran and Elsen are not CMU students.

All four suspects were able to post their $10,000 bond.

Police are still looking for a fifth suspect, Elija Scott Burr, 19, from Panama City, Fla.  He has an outstanding warrant for the previous charges.

The delivery guy was not harmed in the robbery.
