MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — Despite the lackluster start to the snow season in Michigan, many parts of the state currently have above normal snowfall totals for the winter so far.

The most remarkable turnaround is in Muskegon. At one point in late December, the total was four feet below normal. As of Wednesday, the total is up to 92.8 inches, which is 10.9 inches above normal. 53.2 inches of that total has fallen in the month of February alone.

In Grand Rapids, the seasonal total is currently at 57.3 inches, which is 7.1 inches below normal. At one point, Grand Rapids had a deficit of three feet.

Here are a look at some other totals from Michigan and the departure from normal:

  • Lansing: 24.1 inches, 17.7 inches below normal.
  • Alpena: 36.0 inches, 29.5 inches below normal.
  • Sault St. Marie: 120.8 inches, 21.1 inches above normal.
  • Detroit: 40.2 inches, 6.6 inches above normal.
  • Marquette: 128.9 inches, 22.1 inches below normal.

It doesn’t look like we will be adding too much to these totals over the next few days. For the latest forecast, join us on FOX 17, or visit http://www.fox17online.com/weather
