Bus Driver Loses Legs In Freak Accident

FLAT ROCK, Mich. -  A bus driver from the east side of the state has been forced to undergo the amputation of both of her legs after a freak accident at the local bus depot.

It happened last week when Lesley Daniels, 44, was finishing up her afternoon shift. Daniels was outside helping guide another bus to its charging station, when for some reason, the vehicle jumped the curb and pinned Lesley against a fence, crushing her legs.

“She kept asking am I going to die,” said Lesley’s sister, Shawna Goforth. “Somebody else there was a paramedic and helped her from under the bus and then to the hospital.”

“It was her life or the legs, and my sister’s words on the table were, ‘Do what you have to do to save my life for my kids.’”

Both legs were amputated above the knee. She remained in the hospital Wednesday night, undergoing intense therapy. Despite everything that’s happened, her family said the mother of three is staying positive.

“She’s strong strong willed,” said Goforth, who said Daniels’ goal was to walk again using prosthetics.

If you’d like to help the family, you can donate to any Monroe Bank and Trust under the Lesley Daniels Fundraisers. Donations can also be made online here.

these reporters need to get their facts straight, she is not married, has 2 children, but one living at home. I don't know if they are trying to get more sympathy, or if the reporters got it wrong, but those who are going to donate need to know all the facts. i went to high school with this woman, she is hopefully going to be a better person through all of this.
