DETROIT- The city council voted Wednesday to request a public appearl on the Governor’s plan to fix the city’s financial problems, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The city said they have a plan to face the long-term debt of more than $14 billion.

“I decided the fighting must stop now,” Detroit Mayor Dave Bing said. “We need to end the drama, the in-fighting and understand that whether we like it or not an emergency financial manager is coming to Detroit.”

The council has until Monday to appeal the decision. If the Governor doesn’t agree to the hearing, the city council can appeal to the state’s circuit court.

The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday in Lansing.
