MUSKEGON, Mich. – A police officer happened to notice that a mattress was on fire just outside a home in Muskegon and was able to warn the people inside before the flames spread.
It happened early Wednesday morning at a home on Pine Street.
The owner of the home wasn’t there, but the owners’s grandmother and granddaughter were inside at the time.
The officer was able to knock on the door after noticing the fire and got the two out safely.
There was extensive damage done to the siding of the home, and there was other smoke and heat damage. But crews were able to get the flames under control before the fire spread throughout the home.
No injuries were reported, and an official cause has not been determined.
