SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Davenport’s women’s basketball team advanced in the women’s NAIA division 2 national tournament Thursday beating the College of Saint Mary 96-59. Kendra Cook (Paw Paw) led the Panthers with a career high 24 points and Karli Harris added 19.
“It was fun. There was a lot of nervous energy. We walked out there under the bright lights and everything that comes along with it. It took us a little bit to get into our groove but I thought we finally worked things out, found each other and played well together” Cook said.
Davenport, which is seeded 2nd, will now play 6th seeded Cardinal-Stritch Friday at 9:30 a.m., DU beat the Wolves in the first game of the season back on November 2, 78-66.
“They know us, we know them. I don’t know if it is a good or bad thing that we won the game, probably a bad thing because they probably got their horns up for us. There is a lot of familiarity after that first game” Davenport coach Mike Williams said.
