MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. – Montcalm County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 40-year-old Orleans man for stealing several items from the Dollar General in Sheridan.
On Tuesday, Brian Keith Hansen was charged with retail theft.
According to an employee of the store, Hansen stood in the clearance aisle from around 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday evening. They made contact with him on multiple occasions and called police after becoming concerned that he was in the process of stealing things.
When officers arrived they found Hansen had several items on him that were just stolen from the store. The items included make-up, tampons and baby bibs. Store employees say he also broke at least two items.
Hansen was arrested and lodged in the Montcalm County Jail. The case remains under investigation with concerns that he may have committed similar thefts in neighboring communities.
FOX 17 News checked Hansen’s criminal record. It shows a 1995 conviction of attempted felony breaking and entering; 2005, disorderly conduct; and 2006, accessory after a fact to a felony.

Wow thats pathetic on the other hand its hard some times when thoes types of items are exspencive but there is no reason to steal.

Really?! This is news worthy? Theft is wrong, but there's petty theft and shoplifters, by the hundreds, every day. This guy stole tampons and baby bibs. It sounds to me as if he was desperate. It's not right, but it's not news.

I totally agree with you. Fox17 should stick to more real news. Poor man. I've could of supplied his spouse with tampons and makeup too.

Maybe his wife gave him a list of what she needed, he didn't want to disappoint. Stealing tampons, baby bibs, & makeup are pretty much general necessities. So sad. Wish he would of checked out a couple of food banks or churches, if could of received these items for free.

they might of needed the tampax but the bibs and makeup oh come on. I can see food if you are hurting or things like toilet paper but makeup really and bibs? I had to go to food bank about 5 years ago and they don't give out things like laundry soap or toilet paper at least not the one around here. they gave out mostly bread and I was thankful for that. if they are hurting that bad and have a child they should of asked for help for Soc. Sec., food banks and churches. maybe he stole just to get back in jail for his room and
board.

ladies calm down they might as well be giving the stuff away with being that low of quality. he obviously was doing this for his wife or girlfriend anyway. i mean come on if he was taking items for himself you grab for candy and toys maybe an ashtray or two. basically the cops should of shown up and said "ok move it along sir we know the store is just trying to get rid of it". leave the poor guy alone!

This guy has disability, welfare and still steals from anyone he can. He has stolen for years, and not only from stores, but people he befriends…so be careful becoming friends with this one…your stuff will disappear. He needs money to support his drug habits (which we pay for already with disability and welfare).

we all know it wasnt for you. cause if you or someone you knew needed something youd steal it yourself!!! you 2 are lucky thats all he had. what about the thousands of dollars from all the other "shopping trips" you 2 have taken
