COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — According to Sheriff Deputies 38-Year-Old Timothy Thurston was killed early Thursday morning after his Mazda 626 left the road in the 46000 block of Basline Road in Columbia Township and hit a tree. Sheriff Deputies say that speed does appear to be a factor and that Thurston was not wearing his seatbelt. The investigation also found that the vehicles airbags did deploy. Pending toxicology results,it is unknown whether alcohol was a factor or not.
The crash does remain under investigation.
No other vehicles were involved.
