GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — For those of you interested in a career in the medical field, or who just love science, the Brain Awareness Week Neuroscience Fair kicks off today.
It is an interactive exhibit at the Grand Rapids Public Museum and it is meant to raise awareness about the importance of brain research.
Some of the exhibits include brain surgery with deep brain stimulation on a jello brain, brain tricks and optical illusions, extracting DNA from a banana and seeing and touching real human brains.
Museum goers will also get the chance to meet scientists from institutions such as the Van Andel Institute and the Hauenstein Neuroscience Center at Saint Mary’s Health Care and Spectrum Health.
The exhibit runs until Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and there is no additional charge for participating in the fair.

Good work Jessica: This event was conceived, developed and executed by the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. NOT VAI or Saint Mary's. They were secondary invitees.
