DETROIT, Mich — A police chase in the Detroit area has ended, after FOX 17 viewers and police alike watched it on live TV.
FOX 17 affiliate FOX 2 News reported that the Southfield Police Department was actually watching the chase to help them catch the suspect.
At one point, the driver of the Ford Taurus side-swiped a vehicle at an intersection with police in hot pursuit. The fleeing car sped through several miles of roads and neighborhoods. At times the car drove on lawns and plowed through intersections, running red lights.
The chase lasted some 20 mins. Officers finally rammed the suspect’s vehicle into a building wall, ending the pursuit near Livernois just south of 8 Mile Road.
Police say the driver is a suspect in more than a dozen car break-ins in several cities.
