Kirk Gibson’s Son to Play in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kirk Gibson has left a big mark on the Michigan sports scene. Now his son is looking to do the same thing.

Cam Gibson will play for the Battle Creek Bombers of the Northwoods League this summer. Gibson is in his freshman season at Michigan State University. He has started eight of the 11 games that he has played for the Spartans so far this season and is hitting .310 with six walks and just two strikeouts.

Gibson was a four-year letter winner at Grosse Point South High School in Michigan and was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 38th round of last 2012 Major League Baseball draft.

The Bombers play out of C.O. Brown Stadium in the Northwoods League, a premier summer collegiate league. The Bombers won the 2011 Northwoods League title and open up the 2013 campaign at home on May 29.

I didn't care about "real" cooking or baking for a long time because I knew I couldn't measure up to my dad's kitchen skills. I can't imagine trying follow in Gibby's '84 foot steps.
