GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — While the traditional saying is that March “comes in like a lion,” it will be April that roars a bit over its first couple of days.  Cold, windy conditions will usher West Michigan into the month of April Monday, with an additional light coating of snow likely in many locations.

One quick burst of snow had already moved through the region along a cold front overnight, with colder air continuing to stream into the Great Lakes.  That early morning snow has resulted in some wet to slick pavement in spots, and this will likely continue to be the case during the day Monday.

Lake-effect flurries and light snow showers will continue, but there isn’t much moisture available overall, so accumulations beyond a coating will be unlikely.

The story, outside of the snow, will be cold and breezy conditions over the next couple of days.  Highs will remain in the 30s, with wind chills Monday staying mostly in the 20s.

Sunshine will return a bit more Tuesday afternoon, with mostly sunny skies on Wednesday helping temperatures to bounce back into the 40s.  Highs will be seasonable around 50° through the rest of the week, with some scattered showers likely next weekend.
