West Michigan Students Heading To Competition In Orlando

MUSKEGON, Mich — Three students at Muskegon Area Career Tech Center are getting ready to compete in the Business Professionals of America national leadership conference in Orlando.

The students are Nick Kortman and Charlie Fairchild of Orchard View High School, along with Arron Carlson of Fruitport High School. They all placed in the top five during the statewide competition last month to qualify.

Fairchild earned first place in Computer Security and first place in Computer Networking. Kortman earned third place in Computer Networking, received a bronze medal in Information Technology Concepts, a bronze medal in Business Spelling, and placed seventh in PC Maintenance and Repair. Carlson earned a bronze medal in Business Spelling. Also placing in the top-ten were Chris Moore of Oakridge in Computer Security and Chase Barnard of Whitehall in PC Maintenance and Repair.

The conference happens May 8-12.
