NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. —  Fox 17 obtained a copy of Marcia Hoover’s horrific 911 call before her murder on Wednesday.  We obtained the recording through the Freedom of Information Act.

The call lasts about a minute and is very disturbing.  As a station, we are choosing not to air it.  But, in those final moments of Marcia’s life, we learn her son was shot first and Marcia knew her husband was coming for her next.

Through our investigation, we’re also learning more about the Hoover family and how their loved ones want them remembered.

Charles Hoover is commonly known as Mark and had the nickname of ‘Preacher.’  It’s believed he killed his wife and son then himself in their home in northern Newaygo County.  Neighbors describe him as strange, a ‘prepper’ for the end of the world, and very religious.  We’re told he had a chapel on his property where he frequently held Bible study.

Family wants Isaac Hoover, Charles’ son, to be remembered as a loving father of two daughters ages eight and five years old.

Neighbors tell us Marcia was a sweet lady who was helpful and agreeable.  They say the Hoover’s let homeless families stay in their spare buildings.

Charles Hoover did have a criminal history that includes inciting a riot in Wexford County in 1972 along with possession of marijuana.

Of all the people Fox 17 has spoken with, no one believed Charles would ever be capable of something like this.
