GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour and several days of rain proved too much for some trees, wires, and poles, causing scattered power outages from Grand Rapids to well north of Big Rapids, where temperatures were close to freezing.

In Grand Rapids, two poles were down on Will Avenue in the industrial area north of Ann Street, and 99 customers lost power. East of the city, 119 customers were reported without electricity in Grand Rapids Township between Crahen Avenue and the Grand River. Another 86 customers lost power in Cascade Township.

North of Walker, about 281 customers lost power, along with another 56 Consumers Energy customers in Talmadge Township southwest of Marne.

North of the Grand Rapids area, Great Lakes Energy customers suffered outages in large areas of Newaygo, Oceana, and Mecosta County.
