GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The mother of a 14-month-old baby who allowed the child to ingest crack cocaine under her supervision has waived her preliminary hearing to consider a plea agreement offered by the prosecution.

Stacy Gatlin, 21, is charged with second-degree child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Gatlin’s bond was reduced from $20,000 to $5,000, 10% cash or surety while she appeared in court Monday.

Court records show the child was removed from an apartment by Child Protective Service workers on March 8 from an apartment on the 800 block of Franklin Street.

The child is currently in the care of its father, who is working to gain sole custody.
