WEST MICHIGAN – School districts around the area have already started announcing closures for Friday.

Two school districts — Hope Academy of West Michigan in Grand Rapids and Lighthouse Academy in Grand Rapids — announced early in the evening that they would be closed due to flooding in the area.

Hope Academy officials said they were closing due to technology and phone issues due to the flooding.

Lighthouse Academy officials said they were closing due to flooding as well.

They were followed soon thereafter by a number of other schools and districts closing. For a complete list, see the School Closings on our Web site — www.fox17online.com.

In addition, the Kent District Library Lowell/Englehardt Branch will be closed Friday and Saturday due to the threat of flooding.
